Additional information link to Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission Hmmm, still can't decide...... You may be thinking that a chartered hunt is expensive. Your right, it can be a costly venture, but we put Gators in the boat, and we try our best to offer you a night you'll never forget. You can also split costs with another hunter, for example, if you have another person who would also like to hunt, you can purchase one trappers license, one agent license (only $51.50) and split the charter. The hunt allows you two Alligators, so each hunter gets one. Both people can legally hunt the same permit, so after we have one gator in the boat, the other hunter takes over for the second. This is done all the time and works quite well. If I can help with any of this, don't hesitate to contact me. Another factor to consider.....Alligator hunting, for most people, is a once in a lifetime opportunity, both for Florida residents and nonresidents alike. We hunt from an Airboat that has been designed for safety and stability while hunting Alligators. The equipment necessary to hunt alligators is specialized and relatively expensive. We supply all the equipment possible to make your hunt a success. You may use a harpoon, snatch hook w/ fishing pole, or if you prefer, you could use a crossbow rigged for Alligators specifically. Other items required for your hunt will include bangsticks, gaffs, lights, lines, and yes, bug spray. We also supply you with invaluable information on hunting technique, safety (we are hunting Alligators), the extensive laws that surround the Alligator hunt and boating, and when the night is over and the Gators are in the boat, we take all sorts of pictures, then we help you get the Gators to processors, taxidermists, or assist you in whatever you decide. If for any reason, we DO NOT fill your tags that night, we will hunt another night for $100.00 per hour or will trade for the gators. OK, now if your still not convinced, we have a couple choices. You can book a pre hunt tour with instructions, or hunt the permit yourself, and amazingly enough...........we sell the gear you need!!!! What to bring... We try and supply everything neccesary to make your hunt enjoyable and successful. There will be a few things that you will need to bring. Clothes Wear dark clothing, black shirt preferably with no colorful design on it, especially the back, it reflects light. Dark jeans or pants, black or dark blue are fine, camoflage pants work well also. I do not recommend shorts, although they are fine if you don't mind the extra mosquito bites. A light jacket, or sweatshirt can come in handy as well. Also, you should bring a change of clothes for the ride home, you may be wet or dirty. Shoes Sensible footwear is a must, sneakers, or shoes that you don't mind getting wet or dirty work great. Flip flops or any open toe shoe is not a good idea. Keep in mind the deck of the boat may get wet, and can get slippery. Camera and/or Video This is an important one. Bringing cameras or Video cameras are a great idea, but I need to give the following warning. You are on a boat, in the dark, in brackish water, chasing Alligators, things have been known to go overboard, (experience talking here). If you wish to bring anything along, please understand there is the possibility of it going overboard or getting damaged. That being said, the moment must be captured, so I recommend a good camera with flash, and a better quality camera for pictures back at the ramp. You may also think about bringing a small dry bag. Knives or Firearms This comes up every year, so here we go, knives with a blade of 5' or less are fine, that's all you will need. Firearms........NO.........We don't allow them and neither does Fish and wildlife, so leave the guns at home. We have bang sticks, and that is all we need. Common Sense and a Positive Attitude Always Welcome Etc. Etc. This is the extra stuff. Glasses, if you wear 'em, bring 'em, contact lenses can be better, but its up to you. Soda, water, snacks, we bring that too, we have a cooler on board so your welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic drinks and food. Ice for your gators, if you are taking them home, you need some ice, a plywood panel for the bed of your truck (keeps the heat from the gators) and a tarp. I am sure I forgot something, but thats what the phone number is for, anything I haven't covered, give me a ring. |
